This is the full version of the song in Canyon Drive. It’s not very well-written, in my opinion, but it’s something new and creative, something I had never done before. I intended to put this entire song in Canyon Drive, but that would have made the piece too long. So, I reduced the song to its more essential element, the chorus, and saved the rest of my work to use elsewhere. I didn’t know where else I could use this song, so I now have it as a stand-alone piece, a bit of a “bonus track,” if you will. Also, whenever the lyrics say “I know where the sun hides,” I used part of a melody which I call my “sunrise melody.” I hadn’t used the full melody yet, but I decided to use part of it for this song.
The purpose of the song was to communicate a message of optimism and hope for a happier future that lies just over the next hill. This hope is centered in the knowledge of where one can find the much-needed truth and light. For me, this means the gospel of Jesus Christ. No matter what happens, I know I can trust in God and His truths, His purposes, His plan.
