Mission: 2010-2012

During my two years of voluntary service as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I worked hard and made missionary work my highest priority and focus. So, naturally, my ideas for music (and poetry) had to do with the truths I was teaching. I always wrote these ideas down, but because I wanted to focus on my missionary service for these two years, I didn’t take the time to develop many of these ideas into full-fledged compositions. The ideas that I haven’t developed or used in a composition are in my bank of melodies (a separate Finale file).

However, in the occasional idle moment (which was really quite rare) I developed these three compositions. I will also say right now that I confess there were times in my mission when I could have been more focused than I was. In some of those moments, if there was a piano in the room, I sat down and hammered out some chords for these pieces. When I returned home from my two years of service, I took my pieces of notebook paper and wrote my melodies and compositions onto Finale files.
