See statement for “O Mistress Mine.” I will also add, though perhaps it goes without saying, that I used the settings of these songs I had heard from several renditions of “Twelfth Night” as inspiration for my own melodies. In contrast to “O Mistress Mine,” which is meant to be a romantic ballad, “The Rain Raineth” is meant to be a lively and whimsical song which slows down at the end to provide a feeling of closure and conclusion as a suitable end for “Twelfth Night.”
