For this last composition in Music 188, two duets were paired up into quartets. This composition involves myself and Joe Robins, as well as Josephine Scere (soprano) and Joe Williams (alto sax). This piece was a lot more fun to put together than Improv. The recording wasn’t too bad either. Even though we made some mistakes (again, I regret to say I no longer have the recording), I thought we all did a good job. Josephine Scere performed her acting part very enthusiastically. The process of creating this unique piece was very enjoyable. We used two prompts: Use an audience drone, and use theatrical elements. We set up the piece to convey a typical work morning in busy traffic, from the start of the car at the soprano’s home to the moment she arrives at work. This sort of piece couldn’t be written on staff paper, so I typed it up on a Word document, with a few graphics written on Finale and pasted onto the document.
